is a not-for-profit, non-competitive dance studio. Our mission is to nurture the child's creative expression of dance as an outpouring of praise and thanksgiving. Through graceful and grace-filled movement, the children develop a passionate desire for living their part of God's Story. We focus on transformation of the heart, expression of identity in Jesus, and using our unique gifts to praise the Great Creator.

Ballet is a graceful and formal style of dance. Dancers will grow in discipline, strength and fluidity. Ballet classes typically follow a syllabus week-to-week. We highly recommend this class to all of our dancers regardless of age/experience as it builds strength and musicality. We find that beginners and soft-spoken dancers particularly enjoy this class.
Jazz builds on African American Jazz styles of dancing that emerged with jazz music in the 1800’s. We teach what is called Commercial or Modern Jazz, which incorporates spins, leaps, and kicks into fun and upbeat routines. It is often found to have similar aesthetic values to ballet, however, the class is high-energy and slightly less formal in structure than ballet. It is another great choice for beginners, as well as dancers who love big and fast movement.
Acro is best described as a mix between dance and gymnastics. Dancers will learn tumbling, partner tricks and lifts, flexibility, and balance. This class focuses greatly on repetition and discipline in order to safely progress through age/level appropriate stunts. Safety is of high priority in acro, and patience and focus are crucial in this class. A fantastic choice for dancers wanting to challenge themselves to gain strength and learn new things.
A style of dance that focuses on telling a story or showing emotion to the audience. It is very expressive and powerful. Often in lyrical, we will teach dancers how to express themselves by creating their own movement to songs. Dancers who are expressive and charismatic find a lot of opportunity to embrace those qualities in lyrical. Because lyrical focuses more on individuality and artistry, it is highly recommended that a dancer takes either ballet or jazz to build skills and strength to better express themselves in this class.
Contemporary dance simply means “something new”. Contemporary classes are interpretive and can often be mixed with other art forms. Contemporary dance is often emotional and expressive. It often builds upon ballet vocabulary* and movement, and oftentimes instrumental music is used. Contemporary dance is all about exploring and experimenting with movement, and takes vulnerability and an openness to trying new things.
*It is highly recommended that dancers take either ballet or jazz to build their dance vocabulary for contemporary.
Hip hop dance originated out of a larger cultural movement in the Bronx in the 70’s. At that time, it was created as a way to build community and create art within marginalized Black communities. Hip hop dance classes in our studio settings reflect the same value of building community and camaraderie. It is an incredibly valuable class to take as dancers build musicality, rhythm, strength and coordination.
Students will study acting through fun games and creative script-reading, and learn about what it takes to bring a drama performance together. This class encourages creativity and confidence, in writing scripts and bringing them to life. Drama involves minimal to no dancing and no experience is required. Musical theatre is a very theatrical dance style, sometimes performed while lip-synching or singing.

At Reflection, our hope is always to keep our classes affordable and accessible so that no child misses the opportunity to dance due to finances.
That being said, COVID-19 has taken a toll on us as registration has understandably been lower. We anticipate that if this remains the case for our 2021-2022 season, our tuition rates may have to increase very slightly per month so that Reflection can continue to operate and thrive. It would not be a tremendous difference, but if needed would make all the difference in keeping RDS operating this coming season. Our hope and prayer is that we are able to keep tuition where it is, but we want to make sure that you are aware of this potential increase as you are registering.

Our Bursary Program is a donation-based program for students and families that need financial assistance in covering the cost of tuition. Through the generous donations we have received, hundreds of students have been able to take classes with Reflection. This is a huge part of our ministry and is at the heart of the Reflection’s mission.
Over the years, our silent auction at our year-end show has been a huge source of donations, covering the majority of our bursaries for the upcoming year. However, due to Covid-19, our year-end show was cancelled and there was no opportunity to recoup the typical donations acquired at that event. Because of this, we are more in need of donations than ever before. As we plan for a year where our classes might not look the same as years previous, our hope is still that no child is left behind because of finances.
We humbly ask you to consider making a donation to Reflection today… any amount is a blessing.
Mentoring at reflection
Mentoring at reflection
Building meaningful connections and relationships is of high value at Reflection. For this reason, we have a mentorship program for interested and dedicated dancers ages 12+. Those who participate in the mentorship program are partnered with a teacher and/or class and act as an assistant during class time. Student mentors help keep younger classes running smoothly by demonstrating skills and choreography, leading small group activities, and providing assistance one-on-one in larger classes.
